The invention disclosed herein discloses an easy-to-install arrangement which allows for an improvement in the properties of the existing window, such that the improved window has similar characteristics to a new window. This is achieved according to the invention in that a transparent pane is arranged extending over at least partial areas of the window, parallel to the window glass, producing a bond to the window and at a distance from the window glass for forming a cavity. The pane can be made of a glass, in particular laminated glass, a Plexiglas or other transparent material. The insulating properties of the overall composite affect both the reduction of heat flow and the transmission of sound.
